NaSoWriMo 2014 -- Day 11

10 days done and we are still writing! This is huge! So much creativity!

Today's prompt is write a song that has something to do with a location. It could be recorded on location, it could be about your favorite ice cream stand.

Happy writing!

NaSoWriMo 2014 -- Day 8

Week one down! Onward! Thanks for all of the comments and support on soundcloud.com. It's been great.

The prompt for today is use your body. That's right armpit, farting sounds, raspberries, or just good old ham bone. Make that body work!

NaSoWriMo 2014 -- Day 4

It's only day 4 and already you have given us so many great songs.

After watching this youtube video today we knew it was time to incorporate animals into our songwriting. This could be sampling the growling sound your cat makes when she gets her favorite food or a song about the birds on your porch. So get in touch with your spirit animal and make some music.

NaSoWriMo -- Day 8

A few observations on this eighth day of National Songwriting Month --

• Our participants are really pushing their creative limits.  We're noticing lots of genre-crossing, which is always good for the creative soul.
• We should really change the name of this endeavor to International Songwriting Month!  We're so glad to have many virtual friends from across the pond taking part.  Rock!
• While it's sometimes difficult to fit in our daily songwriting (and sometimes we even have to skip a day...or two...) at least we're thinking about music.  And thinking about music every day is awesome.

We're calling a free space today, so no prompt.  Be free!!

Thanks again for your support in this!  Keep writing and sharing your songs!

NaSoWriMo -- Day 5

Your prompt for today is something in nature. Find something in nature that inspires you and let it bring forth the music.

NaSoWriMo 2013 -- Day 1

Aaaaaaaaand, we're back!

Welcome to National Songwriting Month!  The challenge is simple:  attempt to write a song a day in the month of May 2013.  Post your daily songs on your SoundCloud, YouTube, Facebook, etc. to share with other participants and the world.

We are so happy to see many newcomers as well as seasoned vets from last year.  Welcome one and all!

We've just updated our official list of participants here on the blog, so please check to make sure we have your correct information and links.  And remember to spread the word!  Songwriters can jump in the challenge any time.  The more the merrier!

We'll post daily songwriting prompts here.  If they inspire you, great!  If not, you can always go your own way.  Let's get started with a good old standby -- the love song.

Write a song about someone (or something) you love in this world.

Happy songwriting!!
